Blood Connection Offers Way to Save Lives and the Environment

Partnership with Forestmatic will plant a tree in NE Uganda for each blood donation

The Blood Connection has a way for you to make an impact on lives locally and around the world. The Blood Connection has partnered with a company named Forestmatic to plant one tree in northeastern Uganda for every blood donor this month. They have a goal of planting 20,000 trees in October, and 12,091 have already been planted. Donors in Union County will have three chances to give the gift of life before the month is over, and with it, the chance to lower carbon dioxide emissions, create jobs, and empower women in Africa.

The bloodmobile will be at Union’s Walmart today from 3-8 p.m. They will also be at Walmart on Saturday from 11-7. They have another planned on Friday, October 28, from 11-7.
