Gonzalez touches on breakthrough cases, last year's flu season
Monday morning, UMC-Center for Family Medicine’s newest doctor, Dr. Jose Gonzalez, appeared on the morning show to talk about COVID and vaccines. Gonzalez is an internal medicine physician and hospitalist. He received his medical training in Ecuador with an ICU residence. He then served in New York at Bronx Lebanon doing internal medicine before going to Colorado to serve as a hospitalist.
Gonzalez talked about some of the reasons he hears from patients as to why they aren’t getting vaccinated. He said one of the biggest reasons is fear, and much of that being driven by misinformation coming primarily from social media. One objection people offer is the issue of breakthrough cases—that people who are vaccinated still can get the virus. Gonzalez says he tells patients this:
