First reading of budget, policy changes on the agenda
The Union County Board of School Trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting tonight. Their executive session will begin at 6:30 p.m., where they will discuss personnel and contractual matters. The open session will start at 7:30 with Superintendent Joey Haney’s updates to the board and special recognitions. Director of Instruction Dr. Lacresha Byrd will present a new elective course for grades 9-12 at Union County High School, called UC Success. She will also present two overnight field trip requests for board approval. Finance Director Linda Griffin will present the first reading of the fiscal year 2024 budget. She will also present the monthly budget report. Personnel Director Jeff Stribble will present six different policies to the board for first readings. They will deal with possession and use of electronic communication devices in school, weapons detection, expense authorization and reimbursement, retirement of support staff, retirement of professional staff, and clear bag use at district events. Finally, he will present the personnel report for approval.
