Jones awaits extradition back to Union County

The woman wanted for the murder of Stanley Jones has been arrested in Louisiana and is awaiting extradition back to South Carolina to be arraigned. The Union County Sheriff’s Office announced yesterday that Alexis Fiana Jones was arrested early Thursday morning following a short vehicle pursuit. According to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies conducted a traffic stop on I-20 westbound at Well Road. The vehicle stopped and then sped off, continuing west on I-20. A pursuit ensued, and the driver operated the vehicle at a high rate of speed in a reckless manner, and ultimately crashed on Calhoun Barn Road in Calhoun, LA. The driver and occupant got out of the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, Ouachita Parish Fire Department, and West Monroe PD K-9 units searched for the suspects. The search continued overnight. Alexis Jones was apprehended first, and a few hours later, a man identified as Demashion Mahan, of Atlanta, was arrested. Mahan is charged with felony aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer, no driver’s license, reckless operation, exceeding maximum speed limit, and criminal trespass. Jones is charged with fugitive from justice on the murder warrant from Union County.
