Supervisor's monthly report gives update on several projects

Supervisor Phillip Russell gave his report to County Council Tuesday. Among the items he went over were some of the county’s special projects. The bid opening for the Chrysler Building roof project will be January 18. The jail expansion pre-bid was held earlier in the day Tuesday, and the bid opening for that project will be January 26. He said the Lockhart Boat Ramp project is still on hold, as it is still too wet to complete the work. The South State Bank building is still expected to be ready to move into by late March or April. He said all mold and moisture has been removed, security and computer cabling has been installed, and they are ready for insulation and sheet rock insulation.

The facility maintenance department was busy over Christmas, as they had to fix 18 water lines in county buildings that froze during the extremely cold weather. All 11 volunteer fire departments in the county will receive a $12,000 V-Safe Grant from the state, totaling $132,000 for the county. The money can be used for equipment purchases.
