Chasity Pearson wins special election to fill Morgan's seat
On Wednesday, September 1, City Councilwoman Vicki Morgan resigned her seat on council. Morgan had moved out of her district over the summer. The state code of laws states that candidates seeking office from a particular ward must be residents of that ward during their entire terms of office. Because of that, Morgan resigned, setting up a special election between City Clerk Gloria Rogers and Chasity Pearson. Pearson won the special election in a closely contested race that featured extremely low voter turnout.
