Daniel Prince

Spaces are limited for this popular program

Union County 4-H will be presenting a special summer day camp this year, titled Forged in 4-H. 4-H agent Mark Cathcart will lead the camp at the Union County Clemson Extension Ag/Home Ec building at 120 Kirby Street. It will be held June 15-16 from 9-2. The day camp is geared for youth ages 10-18. The cost is $50 for 4-H members and $65 for non-members. Space will be limited. Participants will learn the basics of blacksmithing and working safely with hot metals. Activities will include hands-on forging to produce an item to take home. Lunch will be provided. Cathcart started the blacksmithing program as a pilot project between Union County 4-H and a home school group. Interest in the program grew rapidly as word spread, and they are in the process of expanding the project due to its popularity.
