A Merry Unionville Christmas Comes to Downtown Union This Week

WBCU's Truck Full of Toys campaign holds its official kickoff at the event

A Merry Unionville Christmas is bringing Whoville to Union. The annual Main Street Holiday Kickoff is coming this Thursday, November 17, from 5-8 p.m. The Downtown Merchants Association and Union County Tourism are collaborating to make the event a success. Downtown shops will be open, and numerous vendors will be on hand with food, crafts, Christmas gifts, and more.

A major attraction at the event is always the entertainment, and this year’s lineup has just been announced. Throughout the evening, from 5-8 p.m., there will be a chair bottom caning demonstration at the Arts Council. At 5 p.m., Tom Mancine and Friends will perform in front of the Sheriff’s Office. At 5:30, the Union Karate Center will hold a demonstration in front of its location on East Main Street. On the other end of Main at 5:30, the Welcome Baptist Church Trio will perform in front of The Depot. At 6, the Union County High School Drama Class will hold the first of two performances, this one in front of the Sheriff’s Office. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Elementary School Chorus will perform at 6 in front of The Depot. Sally’s Friends, an acoustic trio, will perform in front of the Union County Arts Council starting at 6. The Unique Steps Dance Studio will hold a demonstration in front of Graham’s Flowers at 6:30. Elaine’s Dance will perform in front of their studio starting at 7. The Union County High School Drama Class will hold its second performance in front of The Depot at 7. There will be a costume contest from 7-7:30 inside Main Street Junction. The final performance of the evening will be the Union County High School Band in front of the District Office at 7:30.

WBCU will broadcast live from the Main Street Holiday Kickoff from 5-7, and the evening will serve as the official kickoff of our annual Truck Full of Toys campaign. If you can, bring a new, unwrapped toy for a Union County boy or girl and put it in the back of the truck to help make Christmas brighter for the children.
