Wreck happened just outside of Lockhart
An accident just outside of Lockhart in Chester County Tuesday morning resulted in two deaths and two people injured. The head-on collision took place on Highway 9 in Chester County near Highway 49, about a mile and a half outside of Lockhart.
According to Master Trooper Gary Miller with the SC Highway Patrol, the wreck happened at 10:43 a.m. Tuesday. A driver in a 1995 Chevy pickup truck was driving west on Highway 9. The truck crossed the center line and struck a 2014 Chevy pickup head-on. A 23-year-old Lancaster woman and a three-year-old child who were passengers in the 2014 truck were injured and taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where their conditions are unknown. Both drivers were killed. The driver of the ’95 pickup was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was wearing a seat belt and was also pronounced dead at the scene.
The Chester County Coroner’s Office has not released the identities of the victims.
