Airport Lease Ordinance Receives Unanimous Support in Second Reading

At Tuesday’s meeting of Union County Council, the council approved a resolution for matching funds for a rural infrastructure grant pertaining to the Carlisle wastewater project. They also passed second readings of four different ordinances. The first ordinance was to create a multi-county industrial park for Dolgencorp, LLC. This pertains to the expansion that the Dollar General Distribution Center has agreed to. The multicounty park will allow Union and Spartanburg counties to share costs and revenues associated with the park.

Council also approved second reading on an ordinance leasing certain airport property to a limited fixed base operator, Fenix Air. It also allows Fenix Air to sell aviation fuel. Unlike last month, the vote on second reading was unanimous. Council member David Sinclair explained why his vote changed:

Council also unanimously passed second reading to convey county property to Savvy Builders, LLC. Council vice-chair Ben Ivey explained that it was pertaining to an easement at the Trakas site for water rights for a neighbor.

Finally, council passed second reading of an ordinance for an infrastructure credit agreement for an economic development project currently known as Project Pluto.
