Event sponsored by WBCU and Holcombe Funeral Home will go on rain or shine
This evening, WBCU and Holcombe Funeral Home present the 15th Annual Union County Pep Rally at Union County Stadium. The event will go from 5-8 p.m. There will be a limited supply of adult-sized t-shirts to give away while supplies last. We will have free hot dogs, chips, and drinks while they last. The event sponsors will be on hand with information and giveaways. Union County High School GT Music group will be the featured entertainment this year, led by Director Tom Mancine. The fall sports teams will be introduced toward the end of the evening. The public is invited to come out and have a great time together.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible this evening, but hopefully nothing will put a damper on the community celebration. Rain chances are expected to decrease during the event hours before picking back up later in the evening. The event will still go on even if it rains.
This is the first in-person Union County Pep Rally since 2019. The 2020 event was canceled due to the pandemic, and last year’s pep rally was a drive-through event. The pep rally began as a way to bring the community together following the divisive decision to consolidate the county’s high schools in 2007. Prior to that, the event served as a birthday party for WBCU and Holcombe Funeral Home, both of which were founded in 1949.
