Four arrested and charged with murder

A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with a vehicle that was stolen from Union County back in August and subsequently was used in a murder in Cherokee County. Back on August 22, Deputy Joshua Mullinax and Sgt. Michael Merriett were dispatched to an address on Old Spartanburg Highway in Pacolet inside Union County for a report of a stolen vehicle. Mullinax spoke with the victim’s daughter on scene. She stated a 2014 black Toyota Camry had been taken from the yard. She stated her son used the car the previous evening to take his grandmother to the emergency room, and that was the last time the vehicle had been used. The vehicle information was entered into NCIC.

The next day, Captain Scott Coffer was advised by Captain Parnell of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office that the vehicle had been used in a homicide in Cherokee County. Coffer contacted the victim and advised her of the situation. Later that day, the car theft victim’s grandson came to the sheriff’s office with his parent and his aunt. The person stated that he had shared his location with a couple of acquaintances, and they came to his grandmother’s house wanting his car. He said he wasn’t going to give it to them nor take them anywhere. He stated they pulled a silver gun with a laser on it and told him to give them the keys. He complied, and they left in the vehicle. He said that the Snapchat messages had gone away from his phone.

A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested on Wednesday and charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon and grand larceny of a motor vehicle. The homicide in question was the August 21 drive-by shooting death of 18-year-old Tony Medrano of Gaffney, who was gunned down outside an apartment complex. The vehicle was wrecked a short time later, and the four suspects fled. They were arrested shortly thereafter. 18-year-old Pharrell Jaquan Wilkins, 18-year-old Rejshun Central Holmes, and two 17-year-old juveniles were charged with murder in the case.
