Man with addresses in Greenville and Elgin charged
An arrest has been made in the February theft of a burgundy 2017 Honda Accord. The vehicle was stolen from the Gwinn’s Florist parking lot on Thompson Boulevard. According to the arrest warrant, 29-year-old Aaron Michael Wolferst, with addresses listed in Greenville and Elgin, was arrested Sunday and charged with grand larceny enhanced in the February 6 incident. The warrant says Wolferst has prior convictions of property crimes.
The original incident report stated that Sgt. Scott Hood was dispatched to Gwinn’s Florist, where he spoke with the victim, who was visibly upset. She said she had come to the shop to buy flowers for her father’s wife who was in the hospital. She had left the car running, and when she came out, the vehicle was gone. Hood spoke with a woman who works at the flower shop, and she said around 30 minutes earlier, a white male came into the store, asked about a charger, and then left. The liquor store owner also stated a white male came into his store asking about a charger and then left. Officers went to Enmarket to view any video footage that might be available. A worker there said a white male came in about an hour prior asking about a charger. The video showed the man had brown hair and a beard. He was wearing a dark-colored jacket and blue jeans. The video showed him entering the store around 4:46 p.m. After a while, he left, walking toward Gwinn’s Florist. He walked by the Honda. A few minutes later, someone could be seen entering the Honda and leaving heading north on Thompson Boulevard.
The case was sent to investigations, and the vehicle was entered into NCIC. As a result of the investigation, Wolferst was charged in the incident. The warrant was signed two days after the theft took place, and Wolferst was taken into custody early Sunday morning.
