Arts Council to Host Annual Art Exhibition

Artwork will remain on display at USC Union through October 21

The Union County Arts Council will be holding its biggest event of the year tonight. The 2022 Union County Arts Council Art Exhibition will be held this evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at the USC Union Auditorium, with a reception to follow. Artwork will remain on display at the university until October 21. Winning artists will receive cash prizes ranging from $100 to $750. 64 artists have entered the annual showcase. Toni Elkins is this year’s juror. Elkins is the first South Carolina artist to become a member of the Watercolor USA Honor Society. In 1999, she received the Elizabeth O’Neill Verner award from Governor Jim Hodges for contributions to South Carolina art. The public is invited to attend.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Union County Arts Council, membership levels range from $25 for a family membership to $500 for a corporate sponsor, with many levels in between. Memberships allow you the ability to showcase your work in the Arts Council’s Local Artists Alley, hold exhibits in the main gallery, attend workshops, camps, and classes at discounted rates, and receive invitations to all events. You can purchase a membership online at ucacarts.com, or stop by the gallery on Main Street. They are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10-4.
