800 donations a day needed to supply area hospitals
The Blood Connection will bring its bloodmobile to Union Medical Center today from 10 a.m. until noon. The organization needs to collect 800 donations a day to provide the blood needed by the area hospitals it serves. They say if everyone who can donate blood did so on a regular basis, every two months, there would never be a blood shortage.
If you are not able to make it to Union Medical Center on Thursday, you do have a couple more opportunities to give the gift of life. The Blood Connection will be at Walmart on Friday from 12-8 p.m. They are offering a total of $70 in eGift cards to all donors at that time. Donors will receive a $20 eGift card plus 2000 bonus TBC Rewards points, worth a $50 eGift card. They will also be at Walmart on Saturday, July 2, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If you are in a hurry, you can fill out the blood donation questionnaire in advance on the day of your donation. Do that online at thebloodconnection.org and click on TBC Express. The community still has an urgent need for blood donations after several months of very low blood donor turnout.
