Bonus rewards are offered to donors
The Blood Connection has five more blood drives planned in Union County through the end of March. All donors will receive a $20 eGift card plus a $40 bonus eGift card and a Luck O’ the Donor scratch-off card, which could allow you to win another $10 eGift card, a $10 Amazon eGift card, or a $10 swag item from The Blood Connection. All prizes will be awarded at the end of the month, while the $20 eGift card is instantly available, and the bonus eGift card will be available 1-3 days after the donation. The bloodmobile will be in the Walmart parking lot Sunday from 1-6 p.m. They will visit Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church on Monday from 3-8 p.m. They will be back at Walmart next Friday, March 24, from 2-7, as well as Monday, March 27, and Friday, March 31, each time from 2-7 p.m. Appointments are recommended, and you can sign up at donate.thebloodconnection.org.
To prepare for your blood donation, eat a healthy and hearty meal before donating. Drink at least 2 cups of water before donating. Bring your donor card or photo ID with your birth date on it when you come to donate. Platelet donors must be aspirin-free for 48 hours prior to their appointment. You can double your impact with a single donation by donating double red blood cells. This is a longer process, and your wait time between donations is increased. Certain qualifications must be met in order to make a double red cell donation, but for those who qualify, you will receive more rewards.
