Statewide runoffs set for next Tuesday

Those working the polls can’t take it easy just yet, as there is one more week to work. Next Tuesday, voters will be returning to the polls to vote in the state primary runoffs. Those who did not vote in the state primaries last week can choose either race in which to vote. Those who voted in the Republican or Democratic state primary must vote in that party’s runoff. The Republican runoff will feature Kathy Maness and Ellen Weaver for the Republican Superintendent of Education race. The Democratic runoff will feature Catherine Fleming Bruce and Krystle Matthews, both candidates for US Senate. The winner of the runoff will face Sen. Tim Scott in November.

Early voting begins today and runs through Friday at the Union County Election Commission Office at 1246 South Duncan Bypass, the former Union Chrysler building across from Lewis Funeral Home. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voting will take place at all precinct locations on Tuesday, June 28, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
