Carlisle Resident Turns $3 Lottery Ticket Into $75,000 Windfall

Union County has received nearly $5.9 million for K-12 education, $1.7 million for library, and nearly 18,000 scholarships since the lottery began

Someone in Carlisle turned a $3 lottery ticket buy into a $75,000 windfall. According to a news release from the SC Education Lottery, the winner, who asked to remain unidentified, told lottery officials he decided to try something new when he picked out the $3 Bingo Squared scratch-off ticket at the Lil Cricket store on Janie Glymph Goree Blvd. He said he usually doesn’t buy $3 tickets. He said he would use the winnings to buy a home. The man overcame odds of 1 in 528,000 to win the prize. There is one top prize of $75,000 remaining in the Bingo Squared game. The Lil Cricket in Carlisle is also a winner, as it receives a commission of $750 for selling the claimed ticket.

According to information aggregated by sceducationlottery.com, Union County has received allocations of $5,891,997 for K-12 education since the lottery began in January 2002 through June 2021. 17,918 scholarships have been awarded, totaling $27,767,150. Nearly $1.7 million has been given to the Union County Library System in that time.
