Daniel Prince

Wood has served as Student Records Clerk at FPES for 27 years

Cathy Wood was named Foster Park Elementary School’s Support Staff of the Month last month. Wood is the Student Records Clerk at the school and has worked there 27 years.

When asked to describe Wood, her co-workers had this to say:
“Cathy Wood is always willing to help students, parents, and anyone in need.”
“She is the BEST employee in the world! She has covered the office on days during absences. That is double coverage! She is loved by the children, parents, guardians, and everyone! Mrs. Wood stays on top of everything!”
“Mrs. Wood is always doing for others. She wears many hats. She has always gone above and beyond for the family of Foster Park.”

According to Wood, her favorite part of working at Foster Park is “getting to know the parents and children. Spending all day with children getting to know them and becoming their friend. Every child and parent that has come through FPES has become my family and I love all of them past and present.”

Because of her love and dedication to the children, faculty, and staff of Foster Park, Wood was one of the Golden Buzz Award recipients.

Wood is a graduate of Union High School. She then went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Limestone University. She loves reading, cooking, spending time with family, and gardening. Wood is married to Mr. Joel Wood, and they have three children: Ashton, Levi, and Gentry. They have two grandchildren: Tycen and Ava Marie “aka” Squirrel. Wood’s mother is Shirby Duckett. The Woods have bonus family members: Annabelle and Puff (pets).

Wood attends Fairview Baptist Church and is an active part of the WMU there. She has started the paperwork to become a Guardian ad Litem. Wood volunteers with the local ministry, the Jerusalem Project, and has been on mission trips within the United States.
