A Cherokee County woman was killed in a wreck that occurred Tuesday morning on Highway 176. The Union County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 67-year-old Jackie Diane Duncan. According to Master Trooper Gary Miller with the SC Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 11:25 a.m. on Highway 176 at Farrow Road, which is near the Belk Fulfillment Center. An 87-year-old man from Pacolet was driving a 2000 Buick sedan north on Farrow Road and failed to yield right-of-way at a stop sign. His vehicle, with Duncan as the passenger, was then struck by a 2007 Honda sedan traveling west on 176, being driven by a Union woman with a man and a toddler in the car, as well. Everyone involved was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where Duncan was later pronounced dead. There is no word on the conditions of the other individuals in the wreck. The Union County Coroner’s Office stated that an autopsy on Duncan is scheduled at Newberry Pathology Group.
