Alexander Tucker appointed to Housing Authority Board
Union City Council approved a $955,000 match from the city to finish off sewer upgrades in Buffalo, Excelsior, and the Union Mill area. City Administrator Joe Nichols said the areas needing the work had fallen out of previous grant projects, and this new grant they are applying for will finish the work on those areas. He said it will affect 60 homes and two churches, and he hopes it will help with the infiltration of rainwater, as well. The city and county are applying for an $840,000 Community Development Block Grant for the project, which will include 6000 linear feet of sewer line and 45 manholes. If they get the grant, the city will have to cover the remaining $955,000 for the project. Council unanimously approved that match.
In other business, Union City Council voted to bring a new face onto the Union Housing Authority Board. Alexander Tucker received 5 votes to Frank Alexander’s 2. He also had a letter of recommendation from the Housing Authority Board.
