City Council Candidates Finalized for November Election

One new council member is guaranteed

Two of the three City Council seats up for election in November will be contested, with one seat guaranteed new representation. The District 1 seat, currently held by Tommy Anthony, will be filled by either Jackie Earls or Jennifer H. West. Anthony announced last Friday that he would not be seeking reelection after 8 years on City Council. Robert Garner will serve another term on council, as he is unopposed for his District 2 seat. Pamela Garner Sloss faces opposition from William Browning, Jr., for the District 5 seat. Monday was the filing deadline. The November general election will be Tuesday, November 8.
