Columbia Man Getting Gas in Buffalo Reports Armed Robbery

Daniel Prince

Robber walked from Duncan Avenue to the gas station; may have been picked up

A Columbia man getting gas at DD’s Food Mart in Buffalo was the victim of an armed robbery early Thursday morning. Deputy Chandler Northern was called to the business, and upon arrival, he spoke with the victim. The victim stated he was backing into the gas pump to get gas when he accidentally backed into the light pole beside the pump. He said he got out to check out any damage to his truck and then went inside to pay for his gas and buy some scratch-off tickets. He said he walked back to his truck and got a second look at the damage. He said he then went around to the driver’s side door to scratch off his lottery tickets when he felt someone place a gun to his back and someone demanded that he “give it up”. Further details of the incident were blacked out in the report.

Deputy Northern got the victim to fill out a statement, and Cpl. Israel arrived on scene and looked at camera footage of the incident. He saw a black male in dark clothing walk from Duncan Avenue, cross 215, walk in the parking lot, look toward the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then drew a weapon from his back and placed it into the victim’s back. The camera footage showed the suspect take things from the victim, look in the back of the vehicle, and then take off on foot back down Duncan Avenue. Cpl. Israel deployed his K-9 to try and track the suspect. The trail led up Duncan Avenue for a short distance before the K-9 lost the track. It is believed the suspect was picked up in a vehicle. The report has been forwarded to investigations.
