The Union County Sheriff’s Office sent out a release Tuesday stating they had received numerous complaints from citizens regarding Facebook comments posted about kids at Monarch Elementary School. The sheriff’s office investigated and confirmed that the comments came from a fake account that has since been suspended by Facebook. The sheriff’s office obtained the name of the person responsible and is actively investigating. Captain Scott Coffer said the safety of all children in Union County is the top priority of the sheriff’s office, and he urged the public to remain calm and allow the sheriff’s office to gather information.
