Road committee meeting, public hearing set before regular meeting
Union County Council will hold a committee meeting and a public hearing prior to the regular monthly meeting today.
At 5 p.m., the Union County Council Committee on Public Works, Roads, and Bridges and County Property will meet to consider additional roads in the county road system.
At 5:15, a public hearing is scheduled to receive public comments concerning a proposed resolution to set the tax levy for fiscal year 2021-2022.
At 5:30, the regular monthly meeting will commence. Council will recognize the Dixie Youth World Series team. Amy Austin will discuss the Miracle League All-Star Game in Texas. Juan Adriatico will be on hand to discuss sponsorship of the USA Warrior Pro Am baseball team. John Lummus will provide an update from the Upstate SC Alliance. He is president of the group. Elise Ashby will discuss a Sunday alcohol sales referendum.
Council will then consider any job vacancies as well as make any appointments to vacant positions on boards and commissions. They will then consider bids for the South State Bank building renovation.
Following any reports from elected officials and department heads, council will vote on a resolution to set the tax levy for fiscal year 2021-2022. An executive session is scheduled to discuss economic development, contractual, and personnel matters.
The meeting, as well as the public hearing and committee meeting scheduled beforehand, will be held at The Meeting Room at 103 West Main Street. The meeting will be streamed live on the Frank Hart Union County Supervisor Facebook page.
