Second readings on ordinances pertaining to Project Vidar planned
Union County Council will hold its first meeting of 2022 today in the Meeting Room at 103 West Main Street. It will begin at 5 p.m. with a public hearing. At the hearing, council will receive comments from the public concerning a proposed ordinance for redistricting of County Council districts based on the 2020 Census results.
After that, the regular meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. In business items, council will discuss a letter from the Historical Society requesting display cases. Another letter comes from the Soil & Water Conservation District about a price quote for the repair on the Brown’s Creek Reservoir flood gate control. Coach William Royce from USC Union will give an update on the softball team’s invitational tournament in Florida. Council will consider requests to fill vacant budgeted positions. They will consider requests for capital funds. They will also consider appointments to vacant positions on boards and commissions. They will also set the dates and times for regular County Council meetings in 2022.
After any reports from elected officials, council will then hold second reading on a fee agreement for Project Vidar, second reading on a Joint County Industrial and Business Park for Project Vidar, and they will hold first reading on an ordinance on the redistricting of County Council districts based on the 2020 Census results. An executive session is planned to deal with two personnel matters.
