This will be Bob Love's last meeting as supervisor
Union County Council will hold a special called meeting this afternoon at 5:30 p.m. As always, it will be held in the Grand Jury Room at the Union County Courthouse. The public is invited to attend. This will be Bob Love’s final meeting as Union County Supervisor, as he will officially resign at the end of the day tomorrow, and Supervisor-elect Phillip Russell has been appointed by Governor Henry McMaster to take over the job on Thursday.
There are five agenda items for the meeting today. First, the council will consider second reading of an ordinance to adopt regulations governing development of land in unincorporated Union County. If you want to read the ordinance and proposed regulations, you can view them under the “online forms and documents” tab of the county website at gearupunionsc.com. You can also view them in the Supervisor’s Office at the courthouse. A couple of public hearings on the matter will be held prior to the third reading of the ordinance. The Union County Planning Commission will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, December 6, at 4:30 p.m. at Main Street Junction to comment on the matter. County Council will hold a public hearing prior to their regular December meeting at 5:10 p.m. to receive comments on the ordinance, as well.
The second item council will take up is second reading of an ordinance pertaining to an expansion of the boundaries of a joint industrial and business park in Spartanburg County. The matter is about the State Ports Authority’s BMW railyard.
The third item on the agenda is second reading of an ordinance to amend the Union County Budget Ordinance for fiscal year 2022-2023. First reading came following the executive session after the November regular meeting.
Council will consider first reading of a Verizon Tower Lease ordinance.
The final matter council will take up is a resolution for a first amendment to the fee-in-lieu-of-tax agreement for Volvo.
