Public hearing planned to receive comments on Rural Transit Program
Union County Council will hold their regular monthly meeting today in the Grand Jury Room at the Union County Courthouse. There will be a public hearing starting at 5:15 p.m. to receive comments on a proposed resolution authorizing Union County to submit an application and budget to the South Carolina Department of Transportation to initiate a three-year pilot Rural Transit Program. The public is invited to attend and participate. The regular meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Phil Bell will be on hand to discuss the Union Main Street Holiday kickoff event. Michael Taylor will discuss county government. LeighAnn Arthur and Ricky Smith will provide an update from the Union County Livestock Association. Council will then consider any requests to fill vacant budgeted positions and requests for capital funds. After hearing reports from elected officials, council will consider the resolution to authorize Union County to submit an application and budget to the SC Department of Transportation to initiate a three-year pilot Rural Transit Program. Interim Supervisor Bob Love will give his report, and committee reports will follow, if any. The meeting will then adjourn.
