County Receives Grant for Carlisle Fire Substation

$500,000 grant is part of $8.2 million given statewide by SC Department of Commerce

As Supervisor Phillip Russell informed everyone at the Union County Council meeting last week, Union County has received a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant for the Goldville Fire Station. The proposed station is in the southern part of the Carlisle Fire Department’s service area, around the Maybinton Road area. Council had voted in October on a $55,000 local match for the grant from one of the county’s economic development funds. The county was one of 20 communities to receive grant funding from the SC Department of Commerce for public improvement projects this round, totaling more than $8.2 million.
