First clean-up site will be the town of Carlisle
Over the next four months, Union County will be partnering with several communities for Spring Cleaning Community Cleanup Days. Supervisor Phillip Russell has made cleaning up litter one of his top priorities, and one that the county is working on each Friday. The next-to-last Friday of the month from March through June will be set aside as community clean-up days. County employees will be coming to help community volunteers with the cleanup effort. They will be accepting household trash, bulk items, electronic waste, and tires. Safety materials will be provided to those who want to help.
The first Community Clean-up Day is set for Friday, March 24, from 8-noon in the Town of Carlisle. On Friday, April 21, from 8-noon, they will be in Jonesville, focusing on the Town of Jonesville and the Hwy. 176 area. On Friday, May 19, from 8-noon, they will be in the Hwy. 176/Whitmire Hwy. area cleaning things up. The final scheduled Spring Cleaning Community Clean-up Day will be on Friday, June 23, from 8-noon, focusing on the Town of Lockhart, as well as the Hwy. 9 and Hwy. 49 areas there.
