Daniel Prince

More than 50 have graduated from the program over the past 4 years

The Union County Development Board will celebrate the graduates of Operation Workforce Training with a graduation ceremony and luncheon this Thursday, July 28, at 11 a.m. at Main Street Junction. The program teaches the students skills needed for a job in the manufacturing sector.

Operation Workforce Training started in 2018 through partnerships with the county, Union County Schools, Spartanburg Community College, and Lockhart Power Company. The goal was to target high school seniors uncertain about their plans after graduation. The 65-hour program works closely with local industry to provide students with basic skills to gain an entry-level position offer. So far, there have been around 50 graduates, many of whom were hired by local industries in Union County. The program is funded by a grant through the State Technical College System.
