New store reportedly will replace the now-closed Piggly Wiggly in Whitmire
WIS-TV out of Columbia is reporting that Whitmire’s Piggly Wiggly will be replaced with a Dollar Tree/Family Dollar combo store. They say that James Brock with the developer Twin Rivers Capital, LLC, confirmed the store would be locating in the building, and the developer would be investing $1 million into the property for the project. He said they are aiming to open sometime this summer, barring supply chain issues. In his email to WIS, he said one brand would offer frozen and refrigerated food, a large selection of pantry goods, beauty and health merchandise, household supplies, basic apparel, baby and toddler necessities, pet food, electronics, toys, and home décor, while the other brand would have more than 4000 items where shoppers would discover new products each week, including balloons and party supplies, Hallmark greeting cards, seasonal decorations and holiday gifts, DIY crafting essentials, school necessities, and more.
