Domestic Call Leads to Drug Charges for Two People

Daniel Prince

Drugs found in the couple's residence

A call for a domestic issue landed a Union couple in jail on drug charges. Last Tuesday, Sgt. Nathan Burdine responded to an address on Old English Road. On scene, he met with Joseph McNease and Holly Lawson. While trying to figure out what was going on, Burdine was told that McNease had taken Lawson’s pocketbook and placed it in his safe. McNease opened the safe for Burdine, and a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana was in plain view. McNease then struggled with Sgt. Burdine. Captain Scott Coffer was notified to respond to the scene. He saw the marijuana, along with paraphernalia and other containers inside the safe. He obtained a search warrant for illegal narcotics inside the safe and inside the residence.

56-year-old Joseph Wayne McNease was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He was released on a $3000 bond. 51-year-old Holly Ann Lawson was charged with four counts of possession with intent to distribute within proximity of a park, playground, or school; possession of marijuana; possession of crack cocaine or meth; trafficking crack cocaine or meth, 2nd offense; and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Bond on all charges totaled $33,000. She remains at the Union County Detention Center.
