Parade set for Friday night on Main Street
The Union Christmas parade is set for this Friday, December 3, at 6 p.m. This year’s theme is “Merry & Bright Christmas Parade of Lights”. The Union County Chamber of Commerce, who presents the parade each year, encourages all participants to light their entries for a chance to win cash prizes. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. Registration forms can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce’s office at 135 West Main Street or download them from their website at www.unionsc.com. The parade will be broadcast live here on WBCU, and you can see it via Facebook Live on the Union County Chamber of Commerce’s page.
The Chamber Board of Directors unanimously selected Dr. David Keith as this year’s parade marshal. They stated that for 45 years, Dr. Keith has provided health care for the people of Union County, making the decision a career ago that he would return home and serve the people of his hometown. The board went on to say that he could have taken his talents and served anywhere, but he didn’t, and this hasn’t gone unnoticed. He has served the people well, and for this the Chamber wanted to honor him, saying that with Dr. Keith’s retirement on the horizon, this would be the perfect opportunity to show our gratitude.
Again, the parade down Main Street will begin this Friday evening at 6 p.m. Other parades on the schedule include the Jonesville Christmas parade this Saturday, December 4, at 3 p.m. The final two parades of the season are scheduled for the following weekend. The Carlisle Christmas Parade is scheduled on Saturday, December 11, at 2 p.m., and the Lockhart Christmas Parade will be Sunday, December 12, at 3 p.m.
