Special election scheduled for November 30
When the clock strikes noon today, the filing period for Union City Council’s special election will officially open. The District 3 seat became vacant when Vicki Morgan resigned her seat after having moved into a different district over the summer.
By ordinance, the filing period for the special election will run for the next 10 days, closing at noon on September 27th. The special election to fill the District 3 seat will be held on Tuesday, November 30th, a date which is also set by ordinance.
The filing period opens on the third Friday following a seat becoming vacant. The filing period closes 10 days later. The election must be scheduled on the 13th Tuesday following the seat becoming vacant. Morgan resigned her seat as of September 1st.
