Tractors inside were not damaged; burning leaves set wall ablaze
A fire Thursday evening damaged a garage on Sardis Road. The Southside Fire Department responded at around 6:25 p.m. to 601 Sardis Road for a structure fire. The property is owned by Al Greer. When they arrived, they found that burning leaves had led to the walls of the garage being set ablaze. Three antique International farm tractors were inside the garage. Firefighters were able to push two out and pull the third out before any of them could be damaged. They extinguished the blaze, which caused an estimated $2000 damage to the structure. No one was injured. The Southside Fire Department was assisted by the departments at Santuc, Monarch, and Buffalo. The Union County Sheriff’s Office and Union County EMS also responded to the scene. Firefighters cleared the scene an hour after arriving.
