Kindergarten readiness events will be held throughout the county
Union County First Steps is hosting a series of Kits for Kids events across the county this month. The event will be held for children ages 3-5. Each family will receive a learning kit filled with different activities to help prepare the child for kindergarten. Their first event was this past Wednesday in Buffalo at the fire department. They will be in Carlisle at the Town Hall on Wednesday, March 8, from 11-noon. They will visit the Jonesville Town Hall on Wednesday, March 15, from 11-noon. They will go to Lockhart’s Town Hall on Wednesday, March 22, from 11-noon, and their last stop will be at the Union County Carnegie Library on Wednesday, March 29, from 11-noon. They ask that families join them for one event that is the most convenient for your family. At the event, they will demonstrate how the materials in the kits can be used to help get your child ready for school. For more information, call Union County First Steps at 426-2519.
Also, First Steps has set the date for the annual KidsFest event at Foster Park. They will host the event this year on Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are seeking community partners to provide a child-friendly activity, display booth, volunteers, door prizes, or cash donations. If interested, contact Nicole Glenn at nicoleglenn@unionfirststeps.org or call 426-2519. The event will be sponsored by Union County First Steps, Union County Library System, Union County Parks and Recreation, Union County Schools, and Save the Children.
