Vehicles stolen from Union Body Shop and Ford's Auto
A Florida man has been arrested and charged with grand larceny in the theft of two vehicles in December 2021. Nelson Orlando Aponte, Jr. was arrested back on April 3 and charged with two counts of grand larceny. He is accused of stealing a black 2003 Mini Cooper from Union Body Shop on Furman Fendley Highway between December 1-3, 2021. The complainant said he believed Aponte was the one who took the vehicle, as he had asked about it several times and knew where the replacement exhaust was located in the shop, stating Aponte was the only one to know where that exhaust piece was. At the time, the officer contacted Cherokee County, where Aponte was believed to be living, to try and find him. Deputies were dispatched to Ford’s Auto on Main Street in Buffalo. The owner stated that a gray 2010 Lexus that had been parked on the lot had been stolen. The car was seen around 10 a.m. on December 5, and by December 6, it was gone. Aponte was charged with grand larceny in connection with both crimes. Bond was set at $4000 on each count. Aponte has a listed address in Saint Cloud, Florida.
