Former WBCU Morning Host and Program Director Chip Mason Passes Away

Mason died on May 16; funeral was held last Saturday

Former WBCU personality Dean “Chip” Venoy Mason, Jr., passed away back on May 16 in Daniel Island, SC. Chip Mason served as the morning show host and program director for WBCU in the late 1970s and 1980s. He was part of the staff when WBCU won Small Market Station of the Year honors from the South Carolina Broadcasters Association in 1979. Mason was a proud US Army veteran. His funeral service was held this past Saturday, followed by burial with military honors at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
