Woman charged with public disorderly conduct after the game

A Greenville woman was charged with public disorderly conduct following a disturbance after a basketball game at Sims Middle School. School Resource Officer Hunter Plemmons was working the boys’ basketball game between Sims and McCracken on Monday when an assistant principal told him about an away fan using vulgar language toward one of the Sims cheerleaders. The cheerleading coach reported the fan to the assistant principal. Plemmons and the assistant principal spoke with the fan and asked if she and her granddaughter who was with her would move away from the cheerleaders so there would be no further conflict. The fan agreed, but Plemmons said the granddaughter started cussing, saying it was ridiculous they were being asked to move. Plemmons told her she needed to be quiet or she would be asked to leave. They moved and did not cause any further conflict.

After the game ended, the fan who was accused of using vulgar language walked up to the cheerleading coach and got in her face yelling. The coach’s husband stepped between the two, and the woman started to lean over the coach’s husband, still yelling and causing a disturbance. Plemmons came over and grabbed her arm and told her she had to leave. The woman did not move but continued to yell at the cheerleading coach. Plemmons then began to pull the woman by the arm so she could be escorted out of the gym. She then began to walk toward the exit.

As Plemmons was escorting her out of the gym, the away basketball players and fans surrounded him, blocking his exit. One away player started to run up on Plemmons, and he extended his arm to keep the player back. He finally got the woman out of the school and was about to let go of her arm when the woman’s granddaughter ran up on Plemmons, pushing him and saying to let go of her grandmother. She became belligerent and began cussing and causing a disturbance. Plemmons grabbed the granddaughter and told her to put her hands behind her back. She started to pull away, but Plemmons placed her against the front window of the school and handcuffed her. He told her she was under arrest for public disorderly conduct. The woman was identified as 23-year-old Luchina Dawn Hazel of Greenville.
