Soft opening took place earlier this week
In a press release, Harbor Freight has announced its new store in Union will officially open on Saturday, May 13. The store will be open seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Harbor Freight is located at 719 North Duncan Bypass, Suite A, in the former Western Auto building in the Union Square Shopping Center. The building was most recently the home to Label Shopper. The store is Harbor Freight’s 30th in South Carolina. The 28th store, in Orangeburg, opens this Saturday, and the 29th store, in York, will open on Saturday, May 6th.
While May 13 is the official opening date, social media reports state the store began operations in a soft opening on Tuesday.
Harbor Freight will stock a full selection of tools and equipment in categories including automotive, air and power tools, storage, outdoor power equipment, generators, welding supplies, shop equipment, hand tools, and much more in the 23,000 square foot store. The company, which hires locally, has brought between 25-30 new jobs to the surrounding community.
Earlier this year, Forbes magazine recognized Harbor Freight as one of the top 20 large employers in all of retail and one of the country’s top employers for veterans for the third straight year. It is also a top employer for women and for diversity.
Josh Warren will be the store manager, and he said, “Our team is ready to serve and deliver value to customers in Union and all of Union County. At Harbor Freight, we recognize that now, more than ever, customers depend on us for the tools they need to get the job done at an affordable price.”
