96% of more than 1.9 million returns in SC were filed electronically this year

Today is the deadline to file individual income tax returns. The South Carolina Department of Revenue reports that more than 1.9 million returns have been filed so far this year, with 96% of those being filed electronically. They note that filing online and choosing direct deposit allows for faster and more accurate processing. If you need more time to file, you can request an extension, which will give the individual until October 16 to file their 2022 returns. However, extending the deadline for filing your return does not delay the deadline for paying any taxes due. You are required to pay what you owe by today.
