Several schools on secure protocol today
A SLED helicopter has been flying around the area this morning. The apparent reason is that an inmate at the Union County Detention Center escaped earlier this morning. 22-year-old Yasin Amari Razil Richardson escaped sometime around 2:30 this morning. He had been arrested back on September 7 by the Union Public Safety Department on two counts of first-degree burglary and two counts of petty larceny. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Richardson is asked to call 911 immediately. According to Eric Childers, Director of Administration with the Union County School District, Foster Park, Monarch, and the Achievement Academy will be under secure protocol today, which serves to keep students inside and visitors out. They will await word from the sheriff’s office that they can lift it.
