Weeklong program introduces rising freshmen to the high school and future opportunities
UCHS and the Office of Special Services are excited to offer the 2nd annual Jacket Training Camp. The purpose of this week-long program is to help students begin 9th grade and high school in a positive and productive manner. The camp will be directed by 9th grade teachers and will include food, games, career and transition activities, an introduction to administrators and guidance counselors, tours of the building, exploration of the opportunities that exist at UCHS, and a field trip. The camp is free of charge and there is limited space. Jacket Training Camp is scheduled at the high school from June 5-9 from 9-noon. They are specifically targeting low achieving, high dropout risk students, though any rising 9th grader can register and attend.
Jacket Training Camp organizers are asking local businesses to consider donating to the camp. They have sponsorship levels of $25, $50, $75, $100, or for any size donation you would like to make. Donations should be returned to the Office of Special Services, Attention Elizabeth Ireton, 517 East Main Street, Union, SC 29379, or drop them off to the office Monday through Friday from 7-5.
