4240 pounds of litter and bulk items cleaned up
Last Friday’s community cleanup day in the Town of Jonesville was deemed a success by the county. Union County posted an update on its Facebook page stating that Mayor Ernest Moore, Administrator Michael Tyler, and the Jonesville Town Council warmly received those coming out for the cleanup. They were joined by a number of county employees. ReGenesis Health Care of Union came out, as well, and the new T-Mobile store, led by Manager Jared Allwes, was on hand bringing around water to those picking up trash. In all, they removed 4240 pounds of litter and bulk items, 82 tires, 4 TVs, and a computer. The next planned Community Cleanup Day will be held on Friday, May 19, in the Whitmire Highway area from the bypass to near Sims Middle School. The rallying point will be at the former Union Chrysler building on the bypass. If any industries, small businesses, or citizens want to come out and take part, you are invited. If there is another area of the county in which you would like to organize a cleanup, contact Tiffany Lancaster at 466-8712.
