Daniel Prince
17-year-old subject also charged in another armed robbery incident
On Thursday around 6:20 p.m., PFC Cody Hill was dispatched to 214 North Pinckney Street regarding an armed robbery that had occurred there. Upon arrival, Hill met with someone who stated that his friend was assaulted at the location and was around back inside the building. Hill spoke to the juvenile victim, who stated he was assaulted by three black males with what appeared to be guns. Hill saw a large contusion on the right side of the victim’s forehead near his temple. Hill notified EMS to come to the scene. They transported the victim to Union Medical Center for treatment.
After clearing the scene, Hill went to the hospital to talk to the victim again. The victim stated the three males saw him walking across the railroad tracks behind Fairforest Apartments and got behind him with what seemed to be a gun and made him walk up the steps into an abandoned building across the railroad tracks. They then struck him over the head with their firearms several times. He stated the males took his black bookbag that had marijuana inside. He described the guns as two Taurus 9mm pistols and a Baretta 9mm pistol. The case was forwarded to investigations, where three suspects were identified in connection with the case.
A 17-year-old, a 15-year-old, and a 14-year-old have all been arrested and charged in the case. The 17-year-old faces charges of armed robbery with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, petty larceny, and 1st-degree assault and battery.
In a separate incident the day before, which was last Wednesday, officers were dispatched to a disturbance at 203 Lipsey Street. Upon arriving, they found multiple subjects outside the apartment building screaming. Officer Cody Hill spoke to a woman on scene who stated that two black males tried to rob her son and some of his friends at gunpoint. The victim was uncooperative, and no one at the scene was being clear about what happened or who the subjects were. After investigating, the same 17-year-old was charged in this case. He is charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and petty larceny. The arrest warrants state that he and another person stole a black Nike bag, black high top Air Force Ones shoes, and phone chargers while armed with a pistol.
