Kevin Brewington Elected to School Board

Daniel Prince

Apr 12, 2023

Turnout was less than 5%

Kevin Brewington will be the newest member of the Union County Board of School Trustees after he won Tuesday’s special election over Jordan Jeter. The election was necessary following the death of Frank M. Hart earlier this year. Brewington will be sworn in at the next school board meeting, on Monday, April 24. He had 76 votes to Jeter’s 11, earning 87.4% of the vote.

Turnout was extremely low at 4.9%, and two of the precincts, Buffalo and Kelton, did not have any voters to show up. Ward 1 Box 2 had just one voter, and Jonesville Box 1 had 2. Brewington won all the precincts except Ward 1 Box 2, whose lone voter chose Jordan Jeter.

Jimmy Wilkins earned a seat on the Jonesville Fire District’s board as he tallied 52 votes in that special election. Turnout for that election was 2.6%.
