Lakeside Baptist Church earns first place in float contest
On a warm Friday evening, a large crowd turned out on Main Street for the annual Union Christmas Parade. The theme was A Merry and Bright Christmas Parade of Lights. There were numerous entries in the nearly hour-long parade. The Union County Chamber of Commerce, who presented the parade, offered prizes for the three top entries. Lakeside Baptist Church took first place. Hillbilly Clan #2 won second prize, and Morningside Baptist Church was the third-place winner.
Jonesville’s parade was held Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. While much shorter, it was no less festive, and the crowd enjoyed seeing all the parade entries, from Grand Marshal Pat Littlejohn at the front to Santa Claus at the end, as well as collecting the candy thrown from the numerous parade entrants.
Two more parades are coming this weekend. The Town of Carlisle will host their annual Christmas parade this Saturday at 2 p.m. The Town of Lockhart’s parade will be Sunday at 3 p.m.
