Cathy Wood Named District Support Staff of the Year

A special banquet was held Tuesday night at Sunset Farms to honor the Union County School District’s teachers of the year and support staff members of the year. Each received a backpack of goodies and a certificate and were honored with a video narrated by the school’s principal. Midway BBQ catered the meal, and afterward, the district held a drawing for a new Dell 2-in-1 laptop computer donated by the company. Alvin Jeter, custodian at Buffalo Elementary, won that drawing.

Superintendent Joey Haney handed out the District Support Staff of the Year honor first. Cathy Wood, student records clerk at Foster Park Elementary, won the award. Here is what Dr. Fran Adams, principal at Foster Park, said about Wood:

Tucker has been teaching for 17 years, the first 10 years of which was in Newberry County as a 4-K teacher, and then she came to Monarch, where she has taught first and second grades for the past 7 years.

The other teacher of the year honorees were Heeley Wyatt from Buffalo Elementary; Heather Gregory from the Union County Career and Technology Center; Tiffany Clayton from Foster Park Elementary School; Cassie Bogan from Jonesville Elementary-Middle School; Brooke Anderson from Sims Middle School; and Jon Langenfeld from Union County High School.
