Library Announces Another Busy Week Leading Up to Memorial Day

Daniel Prince

Library is hiring part-time assistant

The Union County Library System has another week of activities coming up. They will host a computer class on internet basics today from 5-6 p.m. and again Thursday from 10-11 a.m. To take the class, you must be familiar with using a keyboard and mouse. The class will teach you to become familiar with using a web browser to view information on the internet, as well as how to use search engines such as Google. The class will be 30 minutes of instruction with 30 minutes of hands-on practice. Registration is not necessary, but the class size is limited to 10.

On Tuesday morning, the library will host its weekly Tuesday Storytime at 10 a.m. for ages birth to 4, with stories, crafts, music, and fun. From 4-6 p.m., the library will host Unwind Time for adults. Those attending will make a trinket box to take home. Thursday at 4 p.m., the library will post the virtual “Let’s Talk About STEAM” program, available on the library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

As a reminder, the library will be closed next Monday for Memorial Day. Normal hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Library staff are normally available via chat, phone, and email Monday through Friday from 9-5.

The library is still looking to hire a part-time library assistant. The applicant must have a valid driver’s license and must be able to work evenings and weekends. Those interested should submit an application to jobs@unionlibrary.org or to the Carnegie Library at 300 East South Street. Applications are available at unionlibrary.org/employment.
